Mark Parker and the Nike PR team are having a fun filled afternoon with this months Black and Tan nike sneaker sparking outrage in Ireland as the "St.Patricks Day" sneaker references a drink that has image problems in Ireland. The Royal Irish Constabulary Reserve Force which operated in Ireland in the early 1920s were nicknamed the Black and Tans. "Black and Tan" or "Tan" remains a pejorative term for the British in Ireland, and they are still despised by many in Ireland.
To compliment this release, the Nike SB division are releasing a "Guinness" High classy enough to feature "British Tan" colorway confirmed by Nike SBs official twitter page. While it's a bit late to think that these will be shelved / scrapped at most we can expect some sort of apology from corporate.
