Longtime forums member / infamous cement print customizer Nicholas Fung aka cemeterydrive has had some very rare Nike SB sample gems throughout his collection, Nicks recent addition of the Reese Forbes reversed Hunter was no exception of rareity. Those that are familiar with Nike SB LOOKSEE samples know just how rare and obscure some of them can be, pictures of shoes like these let alone acquiring for ones personal use is very uncommon.
Nicholas Fung aka cemeterydrive has been kind enough to share some previously unknown facts and insights on the shoes, so without further delay here are the words from MR Fung's personal Tumbler blog.
Reese Forbes Nike SB Reversed Hunter Sample Story.
02.23.13 Sample story: Hunter SB’s. So the actual hunters that released, back in 2004, during the pink box era. These samples are made up of the same material. A real tree camo, and hemp, quilted liner, bright orange swoosh and mid sole, brown outsole. The difference between these and the released version is that the camo and the hemp is inverted.
Example, the toe box and the toe cap. On the released version it’s the other way around. The toebox is hemp (which usually ends up tearing due to creasing) and the toecap has the real tree camo.
Pictures surfaced before 2012, but when the dunk was revised, that dunk booklet hit some stores and I always noticed/questioned that sneak peak of the hunter samples. But never knew what the deal was on them.
According to the tag, it says “HUNTER V 2 DUNK LOW FT” AND “LOOKSEE SAMPLE” so they might have actually been made after the actual hunters, but this is all just speculation.
There is also a sample stamp on the inside liner (hard to photograph since it’s on the quilted liner).
Still a very interesting sample that is very rare. According to the photo in the dunk booklet, the varying hunter camo print indicates that they are indeed a different pair than the one in my possession. So there is at least 2 pairs that exist in the world.
